Firefox 6.0

Postby viking60 » 17 Aug 2011, 10:12

ImageI just updated my Arch and got Kernel 3.02 and Firefox 6.0.
I thought I should check out this new Tab group thing and I am not sure I get it. Apparently it is new that you can drag the tabs around as you like, and that you can organize them that way.
I have been doing that for ages in Opera and Iron/Chromium.
Moving on to the Tab Groups, I opened some tabs and clicked the down arrow on the top right (or CTRL+SHIFT+E) and all my open tabs were shown as thumbs in a group. So what ? I dragged the thumbs around an on top of each other and nothing happened.
I would have thought that when I drag thumbs on top of each other they would form a group. Then I dragged it out of the box completely - et voila! There we had a new group and I could drag as many thumbs in there as I liked.

Now the big thing about this is that when finished and you click the group only the tabs in the group will show up in your Firefox.
So you can have a group like forums and another with Linux magazines etc.
New and brilliant? :confused Opera has had it for ages. Only there you just drag the tabs on top of each other to create a group and you do not exclude some tabs from your sight,

FF6 has corrected some serious security issues under the hood - that is probably the most important change.
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Oh gods. & I bet they've done nothing still about the fact that it's a slow bloated p.o.s.? lol. I quit using it ages ago for that reason. I quit using Seamonkey browser too, for the same reason. It's become a FF carbon copy. Just to load FF5 here, sometimes it crashes, it uses so much memory just to load.
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.
