Hey it looks like Mandriva has hit the Jackpot in Brazil:
.....
This is a huge announcement for Mandriva!!

The Brazilian government education authority has selected Intel-powered classmate PCs running Mandriva Linux for educational use nationwide.
Mandriva is working with the hardware manufacturer partner Positivo, to deliver this open source solution which will help teachers to improve student's education. Also, this will be one of the world biggest organized deployment of Linux, with potential to get to 1.5 Million units, and confirms Linux as a key, cost-effective alternative PC operating system.
The Brazilian government's decision to choose as Intel Learning Series solutions running Mandriva Linux on a classmate PCs reaffirms Linux as the preferred operating system for the global education market with Mandriva as the Linux education market leader.

Mandriva Brazilian edition is based on Mandriva’s latest mini notebook operating system, 2010 edition, and has been tailored to Intel-powered PCs hardware with a unique launcher application which makes it easier to access the most commonly needed open source applications. The Positivo manufactured Intel-powered classmate PC will be used in Brazilian schools by teachers, parents and students.

That's some positive news. I hope it bears out. WRT the "unique launcher application", My ASUS eeepc 701 came with a fun customized Xandros-Debian desktop, I wonder what the Mandriva notebook version is like.

I have no clue to be honest. But it must be good! There must have been some competition.

Further movment - It looks like Mandriva has upgraded the forum and given the webpages a brush up-. To be honest I see more movement in Mandriva now than, in the past years. It could be desperate cramps but it gives a somewhat dynamic impression.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

I have not attempted to login there. It's what I got just going to http://forum.mandriva.com/index.php

When I go to http://www.mandriva.com/ , it redirects to http://www2.mandriva.com/zh/ (what is "zh"? I can't recall?)

Edit: I just tried http://forum.mandriva.com/ without the index.php part - it redirected to http://forum.mandriva.com/en/

Looks like a lot of changes going on.

WHO IS ONLINE
In total there are 9 users online :: 4 registered, 0 hidden and 5 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 884 on May 5th, 2008, 9:45 pm

But note, it looks like a lot of people are missing their new url. Only 9 signed on overall, three of those signed on are bots:

Registered users: Exabot [Bot], Google [Bot], Mechatotoro, Yahoo [Bot]

Ssooooo... they're now going to be spamming everybody that goes there with bots (more than likely for ad targetting)? No thanks, I'll keep my home here.

Also, I noticed their search still isn't working - is just like it used to be. A simple search for keyword "proxy" returns:
Information
No posts were found because the word proxy is not contained in any post.

I know better than that. I myself was involved in several proxy threads there when I was still there. That's what I was searching for, was one of those threads. Info I need now, again, with the situation with my ISP blocking sites, and I now can't get to it. Thanks, Mandriva. :f  An issue that was discussed many times over there, and I offer evidence that "proxy" certainly was discussed at the Mandriva forum. The actual search was run without the quotes, of course.

I'm sorry, but I pull absolutely no punches on something that should have been done at the very least a year ago, at the most, 3 years ago, and should have been running smooth as glass long before now.
