A good slide show here on 10 reasons why you shouldn't upgrade to Windows 10.
Privacy, OneDrive (which I have turned off; am debating uninstalling it), missing Media Center, and more are listed as reasons.
I finally did the registry hack here at the forum to be sure my computer wouldn't upgrade. Nothing else stopped it.

10 reasons you shouldn't upgrade to Windows 10
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

Re: 10 reasons you shouldn't upgrade to Windows 10
There is a main shift from Computer OS to Cloud OS with Windows 10. Windows 10 is a computer/cloud hybrid.
This means that you most likely will not know if your data stay on your computer or if they are in cyberspace - or both.
We have Cortana that has "keylogger" capabilities and collects data about you.
There are possibilities to turn this off but nobody is going to do that...
Microsoft do trust themselves immensely so they do not see the problem with storing your data on their servers. They do not inform you what is staying or leaving your computer - not in a transparent manner.
Windows 10 is a cloud OS and as such it will be heavily communicating with MS servers. That is reason good enough to never install it from a privacy perspective.
Also; Microsoft does not only spy on you - they do actually use the data to provide the best possible experience.
This means that if you are OK from a privacy point of view, then your Computer will probably barely function with Windows 10.
The strategy to store all data in the world on Microsoft servers would be good for business but for the consumers it is a nightmare - One ring (server) to rule them all.
Microsoft has this as the ultimate goal and so do Facebook and Google. Hopefully will none of them succeed to 100 % and if the users are aware of this then they won't.
So you cannot install Windows 10 then? Yes you can; but it belongs in a VM under Linux ..If you want to stay in control of your computer
You can download the iso here
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software ... ndows10ISO
You will need your product key to use it.
Here is a howto.
If you really want a desktop where you’re in control, and not Microsoft or another cloud company, what you need is a conventional desktop Linux such as Mint 17.2. or Manjaro or ++ Windows is heading to the cloud and it won’t be coming back.

Exactly.
That's what I did, was download the .iso in case I ever get curious, and got my product key. I doubt I ever will though. It would hinder me being able to install Linux. Nothing is worth that.

You have all you need to install it in Virtualbox under Linux then.
I have XP running in VB for those programs that cannot run under Linux..wondering if I should upgrade to Vista

One of Vista's most irritating problems is driver support... running it under VirtualBox is a great way to mitigate the headaches of trying to make hardware work with Vista!

If anyone can do it viking can.
I think that would be a really fun experiment, but I'm assuming it was a joke to begin with.

I know... I just thought it was interesting that he mentioned the best possible use for Vista.

hhmmm... Vista... I need to see if my daughter still has her disk. She loved it unlike most.
That would be... "interesting" here too.
