Xfce4 whisker menu: making your own startbutton

Postby viking60 » 27 Dec 2013, 14:05

I really do recomend the whisker menu for XFce4. Not only because it has the most beautifull Valhallian translation but also because of the favorites and the good search facilities.

So I decided to alter the menu start button to something more worthy of a berserk:
The directory to put your own buttons is:
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/ (toke me some time to find it)
The button seem to need to be svg so you should edit your buttons in Inkscape and save them as viking.svg (It is theoretically possible to call it something other than "viking" :) )
You can then simply right click on your menu button and replace your current start button with the more appropriate viking button - that now will be among the choices that you get.
Wait for it....

Or you could simply do all of this directly in the whisker menu settings....

Wow. Just now seeing this.

1) LOL!
2) I've just recommended it to a friend who has just installed Linux Mint. :-D

Yes that is a good one.
Windows people will be fine with it too.
