@viking, install the -devel and -debug packages for drakconf and all its tools, and gdb, then follow here to get a full backtrace for a bug report: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml. When you do the first run command, it should tell you any other packages that need installing.
I don't bother with having it print a backtrace.log file; what I do is just copy everything from the terminal session, and paste it into a .txt file. If it asks you to hit enter to continue or not, hit enter every time, as it will give more information each time. Since it's drakconf which requires root privileges, log in as su - to the terminal first.

See if proyvind would be willing to let you email him the results, then he can post them to the cooker mailing list, perhaps?

Code: Select all

su -
password
gdb /usr/bin/drakconf (or wherever its executable is)
run

If it tells you that you need more packages to run, then do:

Code: Select all

kill
y

Install the packages, then start again with gdb. The most important command after run is "bt full". Then, kill again after it's done.

Never mind! I am Back :B It turns out that this baby cannot digest the vboxdrive thing but it will dance fine with VESA.
I Like the artwork and the background.
And yes the background Wallpaper loads just fine now :s The Penguins have a familiar good ol' Mandrake feel and will warm the heart of all the conservative Linux users. (almost all Linux users are conservative +1).
proyvind you must have something different if you can fire MCC:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost share]# mcc
bash: mcc: command not found
[root@localhost share]#

Here are all the included draks - but no drakconf:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost bin]# ls drak*
drak3d@     drakconnect@  drakhosts@     draknetcenter@   drakrpm-edit-media@
drakauth@   drakdvb*      drakkeyboard@  draknetprofile@  drakrpm-update@
drakboot@   drakfont@     draklocale@    drakproxy@       drakups@
drakbug*    drakgw@       draklog@       drakroam@        drakvpn@
drakclock@  drakhelp*     drakmouse@     drakrpm@         drakxservices@

The theme looks nice. So far this is a "looker".....But I need to get on the internet now so I start with

Code: Select all

ip a

And follow up (based on the result above) with

Code: Select all

ip link show dev enp0s3

And that is what we have drakconnect for so I fired that and set up enp0s3 there and let NetworkManager control it - et voila I am online. :dance1

Drakconf is in the repos but it fails with a lot of dependency errors when I try to install it. :confused

Has anyone else been reading the archives of the council list: https://listes.lautre.net/pipermail/oma-council/ These are available for anyone to read.

They have now moved to a new server, and it is not possible for non-subscribers to read the archive - but there seems to be no way to subscribe! http://ml.openmandriva.org/listinfo.cgi ... ndriva.org Am I missing something?

I have no problem with subscription being limited to Council members, but I see no reason why the archive should be secret.

I'm waiting for a 32 bit version of the latest beta. This box runs 64 bit on the real hardware, but it won't let me run a 64 bit VM. :confused

I am running 64 bit but I had to pick the VESA driver.

That was the case with the last Alpha that I tried. It also didn't let me use the mouse and so I had to install using just the keyboard. Once I was logged in I was able to change the mouse driver and select the vesa video driver. However, I must have broken something because running that VM then started causing vbox to abort.

I only had problems with the net (not a big problem). Where did you change the drivers I thought I should try to set that vboxdrv thing again....

X didn't start and so I used drakx11 at the console to select vesa, and mousedrake to select a standard mouse. I tried selecting the vbox video and mouse drivers, but it wanted to install some package that it couldn't find. I suspect that had I been able to add online repo's I may have been able to proceed, but I gave up when vbox manager kept aborting. I'm hoping to have more success with the beta version, when a 32 bit version is made available.

Yes I cannot blame you for giving up. I just managed to set the vboxdriver again and now my net is gone and NM is going crazy. And X is fubared.
It will work if you set VESA during first install though.

Hy,

Did you try the normal KDE-Workpanel? Remove the Rosa Panel and add a KDE Panel,
i whant back my Workspace, i dont need some Rosa" "....thing (sorry for this words.. "crab")

But someone want use have KDE for anything and need the normal/classic Panel with
Workspace Workspace and so on.. the RosaRocket dock/panel or so it's realy good for Rosa, toutchpaf and or for Some Notebookusers and not for a normal desktop icons + normal KDE-Workspace with working with anything and more..

I love my Standart KDE Workspace and Panel .. Or do Rosa change anything in Gnome ? a Rosa-rocket-Gnome Panel ? Maybe..
So please get back the Standart KDE Surface !

if i wand use Mandrake/Openmandriva so i whant the Standart KDE and Standart Gnome and not play around's.. and disliked changed around in the Windowmanager ... No, just easy the original KDE with Startmenu from KDE and the normal/Original Gnome with Startmenu from Gnome , with changeing make it more trubles in code and more changed in code get more possibility for bugs ..
We are not on rosa, we are on Openmandrva/Mandrake if anyone want include the Rosa-Dock, so can it/schould it do, but please not as Standartinstall..

easy and clean it's most better as changed and overloaded at start. openMandriva it's a Distriebution,
who can use anyone and anybody what he want, but please, on a clean floor ;) if you see what i mean.
A KDE from KDE-Developer and a Gnome from the Gnome-Developer.

If he want other.. more in Rosa Directions, should use Rosa, but please, don't mix it..

Let's have a clean OpenMandriva/Mandrake with clean WM's and so far..

best Regards
Blacky
