Well, first installed nautilus-dropbox and dropbox itself. When you install nautilus-dropbox, you can sync your dropbox with the dropbox folder in on your PC. In Mint, there's a bug (or maybe a feature), wherein the icons for dropbox don't show up in the dropbox folder in Nautilus, so you can't tell if/when you're synced. I found the fix - to link some files from the extensions-2.0 folder, to the extensions-3.0 folder. So now, I can see what's in my dropbox right from my /home folder. At this point, I can copy a file to my dropbox folder, and it syncs with the dropbox server.
In Nautilus, go to the file in the /home/Dropbox folder, right-click on the file you want a link for, then go to the Dropbox menu-->Copy public link. From there, it's just a matter of a paste.
