Malware found on HTC Android phone from Vodafone

Postby dedanna1029 » 20 Mar 2010, 17:53

Here.

I never thought of the Vodaphone as being all that anyway, but I'm not into Android anything, either.

Is there a reason I put this in Open Source? Should I move it? To where?
Okay, done, moved to where I thought it would get the most exposure... ? And a temporary sticky too. If you think that's too much, please let me know. Thanks!

I think this deserves to be on the frontpage of the News. Not sure if it is Linux or Win news though :)

It is my understanding that the hardware/software was manipulated before it hit the market.
"Last week, three people were arrested in Spain on charges of operating a massive botnet composed of 12.7 million PCs that stole credit card and bank log-in data and infected computers in half of the Fortune 1,000 companies and more than 40 banks. The botnet was dubbed "Mariposa," which means butterfly in Spanish."

That would be linux news, after all android uses the linux kernel and the gpl license for the software ^^

Sorry b1o but I don't call the Android phone (which is a bunch of googlified nonsense to me anyway) Linux.

Plus the fact that it's a phone we're talking about here.

Moving to General.

Hehe it's not a GNU/Linux disto, i agree on that one ^^

It uses the Linux kernel so i guess it has something do with linux, I have an android phone and i love it but i would not call it linux as you don't have the same freedoms as on your computer, though i think it would be unlikely to achieve the same result in a phone :)

So no argument from me, fits well in the general news, but windows news would have been wrong as it has nothing to do with windows ^^
