Microsoft has enhanced Office 365 security

Postby viking60 » 13 May 2014, 17:16

Microsoft has this cloud service called Office 365. There is a small problem with that, especially for customers outside the US:
Their Office data will be saved on MS/US servers!

How this is bad?
Well for one thing those customers would come under the label "foreigners" in NSA terms: and that pretty much means that they can look at it as much as they want.

Microsoft has already lost business over this:

So it makes perfect sense to sell in enhanced security features. The Office 365 does now have improved encryption and a new encryption key system.
The problem that Microsoft has previously handed out encryption keys to the NSA does remain - and what has made them more trustworthy since then? They might even mean well - they still cannot deny the US government the access to these data if they so should desire (as they have desired until now).

It does not compute well in Europe to leave the Office data to US servers - these days. Microsoft might need to build an infrastructure in Europe (that cannot exchange data with US servers) if they want business there.

Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

That cloud crap is another way to steal your ideas. At least in Google, all I have what I want to be public and that is my résumé :greetings

And since Microsoft has also partnered up with some of the universities in the United States (such as the one I'm going to attend), now several umail services as well as cloud/collaboration tools will be powered by Office 365, aka NSA/Prism network number 1 member. Now education and intellectual learnings/thoughts can be more closely tracked now than ever before! Oh well, 25GB of free cloud storage is 25GB FREE! :confused
