git.kernel.org is a great way. See if you can understand half the stuff there, eh? lol.

There was a newsgroup, fa.linux.kernel, iirc, that I used to subscribe to a long time ago. There was quite a bit of context and dialog from the developers, including Linus, and it was interesting to read but almost as hard to figure out what they were talking about!
