internet

Postby mousuime » 19 Jun 2012, 08:19

How can I get internet on my laptop if I already have internet on my desktop? So I have cable internet on my desktop through comcast, but I also want internet on my laptop. If i get wireless internet for my laptop I don't want to pay extra for my cable internet. How can I get internet for both without having to need 2 different internet packages?

You don't have to. You can set it up in your router,
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

I have a Comcast cable modem, then a Linksys router, which routes the connection to several wired machines and other machines over wireless.
The schematic is close to the following diagram, where internet is at the left but I have switched from Earthlink dsl through the Zyxel modem to Comcast, so my current modem is is a Comcast Ubee modem:

Some service providers will give you a combo modem/router but I would bet you need to add the router to your equation. :greetings
