Zafara and Mandriva cooperation

Postby viking60 » 15 May 2011, 23:48

ImageThe Exchange expert Zafara will be available as a package for the Mandriva Enterprise Server.
Both companies Zafara and Mandriva have announced that they will cooperate in future integration of Enterprise solutions. As a result the Zafara Collaboration Platform (ZCP) will be availabe for the Mandriva Enterprise Server.
Zafara is positioning itself in the market as an alternative to Microsoft Exchange and can offer sharing of E-mails, calendar data, contacts, over Outlook or a web-client.
There will be a special wizard for the integration with Mandriva. With an active directory plugin you can integrate Zafara in existing Windows networks.
Zafara has also developed a Technologie to be compatible with Microsofts activesync.

Zounds interesting. I don't know anything about such large-scale and enterprise software but I can dream of this sort of strategy gaining more leverage for OSS in the MS-entrenched IT world. That would be a good thing! :cheers

Yes Interopting is a reality and the systems need to exchange information. Both Microsoft and Linux depend on it. The servers of the world are Linux; Microsoft cannot exclude them without loosing it's importance as an OS. Linux is far to superior in the server area so Microsoft will never get there. (Not one supercomputer outside MS has Windows OS).
This will benefit the Linux desktop too, as far as MS is concerned they have to live with that "cancer".
The Mandriva/Zafara cooperation is a good thing that very well might put Mandriva back in the front seat. Russia is a huge market! And they sure do not trust MS to handle all their data. And the Windows desktop is a Market leader - simply a fact.
So it makes a lot of sense.
