Iron browser won't start (MDV & Fedora)

Postby dedanna1029 » 28 Feb 2011, 20:21

Iron browser won't start in either Mandriva or Fedora. I'm wondering what's up with this. It's the latest version of Iron (8.0.555.0 Stable for Linux, and the 9.0.whatever-it-is). It did this with earlier versions too, on both distros:

Code: Select all

[dedanna@localhost ~]$ cd /home/dedanna/Extract/iron-linux
[dedanna@localhost iron-linux]$ ./iron
./iron: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This is with the new tar.gz extracted to /home.
I've installed various things which say they contain the libbz2.so, but it's been to no avail.

Any clue what's up with this? So far, I've posted to the SRWare forum, but it's too early yet for responses to it.

Thanks.

Looks like you have an answer. Did it work?
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Nope. Had already tried it.
