Iron browser config possibility, or no?

Postby dedanna1029 » 09 Jan 2011, 11:52

In the Iron browser, we have option to turn off unwanted popups. However, this leaves popunders still coming up, and other "things". In this case, I'm concerned with popunders. I've had several come up behind my Iron window tonight, and would like to know if there's a way to stop them, possibly utilizing the config file maybe?

Thanks for any feedback.

hm I did not even know the difference between popup and popunders. As long as they are "popping" I would have thought it is the same thing?

No, they're not, although until now I had noticed that most browsers treat them the same way, when one goes to block popups in preferences.

What is a popup?

What is a popunder?
A variation on the pop-up window is the pop-under advertisement, which opens a new browser window hidden under the active window. Pop-unders do not interrupt the user immediately and are not seen until the covering window is closed, making it more difficult to determine which web site opened them.

They are one of the more dangerous of "popups", therefore...

OK anyway I don't think you can do anything but blocking the "popups"

Oh yeah, and they are. If you'll remember, I posted on FB the Secunia security report(s). Guess who had the highest number of vulnerabilities? No, lovelies, it wasn't Microsh*t. It was Unix/Linux! And guess what? For the second week in a row, they made top again:
This Week in Numbers

During the past week 45 Secunia Advisories have been released. All
Secunia customers have received immediate notification on the alerts
that affect their business.

This weeks Secunia Advisories had the following spread across platforms
and criticality ratings:

Platforms:
Windows : 10 Secunia Advisories
Unix/Linux : 23 Secunia Advisories
Other : 2 Secunia Advisories
Cross platform : 10 Secunia Advisories

Criticality Ratings:
Extremely Critical : 3 Secunia Advisories
Highly Critical : 12 Secunia Advisories
Moderately Critical : 6 Secunia Advisories
Less Critical : 22 Secunia Advisories
Not Critical : 2 Secunia Advisories

Last week, it took the top with 31! Ain't that cute?

I think it would be best for the time being at least for us all to stfu about Microsh*t.

I'm still wondering about this as well.
