How crucial is it to have gnome-power-manager in startup applications if one uses Gnome, and what are the ramifications either way?
I'm debating on turning it off, is why I ask.
Thanks.

You don't need it at all!
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.

Re: gnome-power-manager in Arch question SOLVED
Interesting. Ever since I did this and rebooted, my monitor has resumed just fine every single morning, and every day after I've been out, too, and screensavers now run from gnome - xscreensavers I still can't get to actually run, although they think they're running LOL - think I'll uninstall them. Gnome Screensaver has the same screensavers anyway, and is more configurable.
There have been more bugs in gnome-power-manager than I can count; I remember a very long-standing one in Mandriva, and Fedora. Think I'll look it up.
