Could the Facebook virus infect Linux?

It seems like the Macbook now can get infected by this "virus". Java works on all platforms.
Koobface for Mac OS X

These files include elements designed to infect Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
If the user is tricked into running the Java applet, malicious files are downloaded into an an invisible folder (.jnana) in the current user’s home folder.

I would suspect that since a root authorization is necessary, the Facebook virus will have no effect. Still It could be a good idea to look for that folder - just in case.

Have had other things that are similar running through Facebook and Twitter both on my end. The problem is, it's not our personal PCs that does it. It's the fact that these things are spreading in the wild on their servers, so when you click, off it goes.

Normally it's just a matter of a password change to clear it, and to revoke access to the offending program in connection settings, but not always.
I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.
