Compiz revived!

Postby viking60 » 27 May 2016, 19:58

Compiz is back!
While it is the posh thing to be against all that extra "whistle and blows" ... I have to admit that I like it.

Because...
It is great for presentation!
It is easy to use.
It is flexible.
And it looks better than anything else.
It stays out of your way - I have been using it for a long time ans simply forgot that I used compiz, so it is not intrusive and it does not crash.

In the last couple of years Compiz has not been top of the pops and it did not work as it should on several platforms.
Knoppix has been using it all the time because the developer (Mark Knophler ? :-D ) is a teacher and loves the presentation features - as I do.

Now it is coming back on distros like Manjaro where it started out somewhat reduced but functional - to get all the whistles and Blows you had to use Spatry's version.

Not so anymore - compiz manjaro is in the repos and work perfectly fine - as I now will prove:
:A
Manjaro 64bit on the main box -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz and nVidia Corporation GT200b [GeForce GTX 275] (rev a1. + Centos on the server - Arch on the laptop.
