
I can watch it work, both graphically, and via terminal, either which way I want to go.
FYI, there is also a gui update checker, called Pacupdate, in the repos. To have it kick in at startup, it's just like any other program in Gnome. Add it to Startup Applications.

OTT, also, one doesn't have to go to all the headache in the Arch Wiki to install cursor themes. Once Community's installed, they're there. If the ones you want aren't, just grab a few from gnome-look.org, and drag 'em into Appearance, still packed; they install and operate as any other pointer (or desktop) theme would for Gnome. Thanks to that, I have a nice transparent green cursor (with a shadow, great outline border, and "animation" of sorts no less) to go with my green desktop.

Other than the Amarok1 issue, this is really shaping up.
