After you have installed it you just do a

Code: Select all

yaourt amarok
and amarok1 will be no 14 in the list.
Pick it, and do the obvious "Y" and "N" stuff.

Applying these patches produces later ruby errors, and amarok doesn't compile.

@juanmah: Thanks for trying.  Yeah, I applied them as well and met the same luck.  I did not know if it was problem on my end.

I get the following error when trying to build this package.

/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/../lib64/libstdc++.a(bitmap_allocator.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `__gnu_cxx::free_list::_M_get_free_list()::_S_free_list' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/../lib64/libstdc++.a(bitmap_allocator.o): could not read symbols: Bad value

I'm on a 64-bit system, and /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so definitely exists. Building amarok with -fPIC doesn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Comment by: juanmah on Mon, 07 Jun 2010 08:48:28 +0000
I rebuild it in x86_64 and it does correctly.

Have you latest gcc?

/usr/lib/libstdc++.a is owned by gcc 4.5.0-4

There isn't no lib64 directory in /usr/lib, neither /usr/lib64.

@juanmah: thank you--I guess my system or libraries are broken. Perhaps it's time for my yearly reinstall :(

Comment by: piojo on Mon, 14 Jun 2010 18:22:45 +0000
I found the cause of my compilation problem. I had a file installed: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.a, which I had assumed was owned by gcc, but it was actually part of llvm-gcc. The amarok build was finding that file and trying to link to it--removing llvm-gcc made the build successful.

No, it isn't. I was asking how I should answer the question at the bottom of the code there.

It shouldn't - can you try other mirrors?

Change the mirrors in pacman.conf maybe?

Finally got rebooted from updates, and came back up, NO SOUND! Am trying to get pulseaudio to go, but it's not going. :(

I'm absolutely naked. :( One single minute without music, and I'm toast. :(

Way to bring a girl down, god, and make her go back to Fedora!

Oh, guess it would help if I install xine-lib-pulse. LOL.

You're not gonna like me today (or is that just today?). At the end of the day, I'm actually having less hassle with Fedora than I did with Arch (and seriously, it used to be the other way 'round). The repos "just work" - there's no time-outs, none of that hassle. Also, I can look and see what package I want to install, without having to ask all over the place what package I want to install for what. Also, pulseaudio is not sounding so great compared to Arch without pulseaudio (and these days, pulseaudio is pretty mainstream for Linux). Without pulseaudio, it sounded better than anything I'd heard in a long, long time. There's also no Amarok 1, and I'd kill to get it going again.

So, I've returned to Fedora - for now - I'll return to Arch when I'm in the mood for fiddling with it again. I'll try to remember how I installed Amarok1 to this, and go from there. I did notice a kde3 project going on; will check and see if I can svn with that or something.

Thanks.
