The Worlds largest Nokia store closed

Nokia had a huge store in Shanghai and opened it while they were the worlds biggest company in the emerging Chinese market. Now it is closed and Nokia is struggling in the growing Chinese market.
They were also forced to close a series of stores in Russia. Some of it is due to strategic decisions, but mostly they are not competitive in the mobile phone market anymore.
They will increase their presence with the telecom companies and their presence in the internet.
Since Nokia is the flagship of Windows phones this is bad news for Microsoft too. The Chinese simply do not want it - and that is a big and important market.
Some time ago Nokia sold their headquarters and now the stores are going the same way.

Yup, I don't think it's any surprise. The Nokia 5800 model with meego was about the best anyone could do on a phone (I loved that, actually); it was pure open source, and it worked. One could do anything they could possibly need to do system-wise, app-wise, and tool-wise.

The least they could've done was go Android, but going Windows phones, right at the time of Windows 8, which even Windows fanbois hate, it was an extremely bad decision to make. They have done, and probably will continue to do, to their own detriment.

My question will be about them from here on, is "Now, what are they going to do next?" Their business model is eroding; they need to do something good, and FAST.

Nokia was loosing ground and MS threw money at it. Sad to see Nokia go that way but I do not feel pitty for them. They got in bed with MS and walked out not only screwed but with an incurable STD too.

Exactly. They completely lost their market.
