Antigua: Pirates of the Caribbean?

Postby viking60 » 30 Jan 2013, 09:54

ImageAntigua has gotten the blessing from the WTO to suspend US copyrights.

They have had this authorisation since 2007 and now it has been renewed.
What they want to use this for?
local authorities can move forward with their plan to start a download portal which offers movies, music and software without compensating the American companies that make them.

It is a safe bet that the Pirates of the Caribbean will be among the movies offered.

There is no sign that the U.S. is going to comply with the WTO rulings.

This is a part of an old dispute where the US outlawed the Antigua online gambling industry and that cost them a lot of jobs.

Some tough competition for Pirate Bay and Kimdotcom there - and it is completely legal. :o
Between the lines it is not too hard to spot a certain Antiguan frustration over the lacking willingness from the US to negotiate.
And a dto unwillingness to accept the role as the small and unimportant, who should dance to every tune played in Washington.

They might get some attention from the US government now, the Movie,Software and Music industry will probably see to that. In the mean time everything downloaded from here must be completly legal - at least in Antigua.

It clearly is legally offered - The interesting question is if it is illegal to download a legally offered product - anywhere? :confused

I would advise against registering on the site mentioned above - warez.ag. If you give them your e-mail you will probably be spammed to death, so that would be the prize for your movie or whatever.
Maybe paying for it is the smallest prize after all....but it is your (legal) choice.
Antigua looks like a nice place for a holiday:
