KDE Desktop and Windows effects gone!

Postby viking60 » 01 May 2012, 12:33

After several updates my Desktop and Windows effects were gone. I did not bother to much because it does not influence the functionality. But it is annoying that my settings are ignored.
I am on KDE 4.8.2 by now.
Altering the oyig that my settings are ignored.system settings had no effect. the animations simply did not work until:
I chose to set every thing to default by pressing the default button! Et Voila: the desktop effects worked again!
After that I could set my beloved cube etc etc. and everything worked.
This might indicate that KDE has changed the place where the effects are stored. In any case this works!

Distro?

OK, still, for people to know for when it is in for their distro, it's good to know, so that if it doesn't happen in their distro when they get to that version, or does, they know what way to go. It's good for them to have the pre-warning.
