This thread is mostly to hold a public conversation between Site Admin and Moderator; however, if you have input that you think is valuable, feel free to post it.
Viking, I think we have it together enough at this forum now to start moving the categories around so that they make more sense, and aren't "scattered", so to speak, and they can be centralized more.
My own opinion (and there are those who might disagree), is that we could have a main category called "Linux". Within this main category, could be "Linux News", "Distro Talk", "Linux Education", "Kernel", and "Open Source", leaving the main "Linux" category expanded.
We could conceivably break down at a later time, "Software and Hardware", into two categories, "Software" and "Hardware".
"General News" we'll need a category description, i.e. "This is for news that doesn't fit anywhere else", but the problem with that is, it needs to be description enough to qualify that it's for computing news.
I think if we organize things a bit more tightly, it would look better, and would be better for our users to find things.
You're doing great with this! The heavy-duty stuff IMHO is done. Just a bit of fine-tuning left, is all.
What say you?
