AMD to cut 500 global jobs

The Chipmaker AMD faces fierce competition from Intel and has to cut back 500 jobs. The production will remain but the white-collar jobs will be cut back. The cutback represents 5 % of the workforce.
This restructuring plan (made by white-collars - cutting white-collar jobs) will probably make AMD more attractive to potential buyers.
