Bill Gates - no longer the biggest MS shareholder

Bill Gates has sold 8 million shares in Microsoft and for the first time in history he is not the biggest shareholder in the company.
The new guy on the throne, and biggest shareholder is...Steve Ballmer!
Ballmer has 333 Million shares and Gates has 330 Million shares. Gates is still the richest man in the world so he did not really need to sell.
We can only speculate why he thinks it is a good idea to sell Microsoft shares now....

Microsoft has now established the no. 3 position in the mobile phone market with Nokia and Windows 8. Windows Phone has now 3% of the market.

The Mobile Phone market is dominated by Android:

    1. Android: 44 percent.

    2. «Dumbphones»: 30 percent.

    3. AOSP («Vanilla Android» based on Googles Android-code): 13 percent.

    4. iOS: 10 percent.

    5. Windows Phone: 3 percent

On Phones Windows may be usable these days but people struggle with Windows 8 on computers. With a tiny market share and at least two dominating giants in the phone market - maybe it makes sense to sell some shares...
