Facebook admit that they have been leaking personal data due to technical error.
It is this finding and suggesting friends function that also sendt over personal info like emails and phone numbers.
No bad intentions - simply a case of not being able to control that wast amounts of data.
And Facebook are open about it - that part anyway.
So you should not use your real name and phone number with these companies - no matter what they say.
This proves that they cannot be trusted - even if they want to take your privacy seriously.
And if it is requred to use their services - there is a sollution:
Don't use them
Facebook has no indications on that this bug has been exploited maliciously:
That leaves the question:
Would it be possible to expolit this bug "friendly"? And who would be such a friendly candidate?
Näh I guess we are all paranoid these days....

We've concluded that approximately 6 million Facebook users had email addresses or telephone numbers shared
