Oil is bigger than Apple again

Apple was the biggest company in the world for about one year, Now Exxon Mobile is bigger again (Oil not mobile phones :-D ). Exxon Mobile was also the company that Apple removed from the throne after an 8 year period of being the worlds biggest company.
This is mostly because the expectations for Apple are lower and that affects the stock prize. So even if they deliver record results; expectations were not met and those expectations had a (high) prize.

It remains to be seen if Apple will go the same way as Nokia that also was the worlds biggest company some years ago. In any case Oil stocks seem to have more stamina than tech stocks.
Tech changes all the time - Oil does not.

But Apple is still the biggest tech company in the world and that should give them a head start in the battle for digital supremacy with Google and Microsoft.
But this development also shows that money is not the biggest factor here (remember Nokia?) - it is innovation.

In that department it looks like Google is ahead these days - mostly powered by Linux.

Larry Page, Googles chief executive, was forcing the divisions to justify themselves, getting divisional heads to explain their projects in soundbite-length memos. His greatest concern was that Google was getting too big and slow to act: "Large companies are their own worst enemy," he said in September. "There are basically no companies that have good slow decisions. There are only companies that have good fast decisions."

So he seems to be aware of the danger that potentially can extinct dinosaurs.

"Large companies are their own worst enemy,"

Is not that the truth?

I live with that everyday. Is like working for the Gov.

The thing is, they are both fossil fuels, and neither should be big any more.
