Mysterious Apple stock exchange crash

ImageApple did loose almost 7 % of its value today. The stocks virtually crashed, and Apple had its worst day in 4 years. The funny thing is that nobody on Wall street can come up with an explanation for this. Sometimes stocks just crash :confused
The general trend was actually good, so this is all about Apple.
The closest thing to an explanation is that some people in the Apple management have been selling stocks. :confused
So Apple lost more money than a small (Banana producing) republic makes in a year.

What if we turn this around:
I have never understood why the stocks sky rocketed in the first place - the products are OK but seriously over-prized. With an army of loyal fanboys that seemed to be willing to buy anything with an Apple logo on it, the future seemed bright nevertheless.

Maybe they have actually started using the products? Or maybe the thought of Apple controlling your phone camera and censoring content is simply becoming to much?

As it looks; my guess is as good as anyone's on wall street...

Could there be a connection with this:

Jim

Edit: On further reading, it seems there may not be a direct cause and effect - but it underlines the dangers of investing in the "markets", when this sort of fraud seems to be almost routine. How many such fiddles go undetected?

Hmm  It could have, but then they must suspect a trend.
Apple has lost 40 times that amount. But you are right one billon here and one billion there... it adds up :-D

Stocks goes up or down based on several reasons. One common illegal practice is called Inside Trading. If done right, you can get away with a lot.

Here is how is done.

Make stocks go up.
The term is called Pump and Dump. Create a diversion by starting rumors in a positive way. Investors buy stocks on this misleading piece of info. Once it reaches at certain point the people that knows sells it and disclose the deal is off. Stocks are down back again.

Make stocks go down.
Sell the stocks now like Apple did and do a massive sale from the insiders. That will signal that some is about to happen in a bad way. The stocks fall in price and start buying again at a lower price.

That is just 2 basic ways of how to do it. That will put a lot of insiders under an Audit.

The stock market can be used for making money or saving money. Trade you cash on stable accounts to avoid taxation. Or invest on high risk to make money. Either way is gamble and a lottery using your best judgment.
