Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V2 is a NAS That has a nasty bug in its software. It affects the Hardware to a point where it is completely unusable.
When you buy one of these boxes it is mainly to serve music and movies (or any data like smartphone apps) etc to your network. And Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V2 comes with a brilliant timer function that lets you control when it should be on and when it should hibernate. It saves power!

Not so in this case though; if you activate it it will go completely dead. You can push the reset button and the power on of button as much as you like - it is going to stay dead!
There is a workaround that you probably do not want to try:
Take out the battery inside the NAS and put it back in again
To access it you have to remove 18 soft screws - the kind you better use the right screwdriver for - and remove the fan plus some cards. Now that you pretty much have dissected your entire NAS you can remove the battery BUT be careful it is held in place by small polymer clips that easily will brake.
That will make it difficult to put the battery back in place.
But if you do and put your NAS back together again - it will work.

What you should do is to take it back to the store and demand another one that works or force them to fix it!
The problem with that might be that you have used it without the timer for a long time.....which puts you back to square one.
Netgear claim that there has to be a power outage for this to happen, but that is not true. It will happen when you activate the timer function - so again:

:S Do not activate the timer function on your Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V2
