fried sunny side up!

Postby gnuuser » 02 Oct 2011, 22:06

Due to recent power surges in our area I have recently gotten a few cooked pc's in the shop. this has prompted me to post this. :o
while im not plugging this particular brand of ups i use apc.
regardless of the name brand chose a good one with a high joule rating.
even if it costs a bit it is still cheaper than having to buy a new computer!
the powerstrip suppressors should be replaced after every power surge.

Will do! Thanks! But I suspect you have more weather than us! Freezing cold or very wet are the alternatives here :-D thunderstorms are not that common. But they happen so this is good advice.

It's not *just* thunderstorms. It's also areas of weak power in general, wind, and all kinds of other factors. In Woodland Park, CO, where my mother is on dialup, she has ALWAYS had to use a UPS, and she still has the same one she started with years ago - it is that good of one.

Due to Global Warming, Solar Activities are getting stronger and more frequent.

Expect some power spikes on the grid.

I heard that in Greece the Gov is increasing taxes that nobody wants to pay.

So to force the people to pay them they bundle the taxes with the electric bill.
Way to go Douchebags ! :s

I guess the power grid failures in Greece are due to taxes and not in Global Warming, Solar Flares or any other BS
