UEFI secure boot: Windows 8 -Fedora and Ubuntu

It is almost impossible to find the boot options in the specifications of a computer these days. And that is a vital piece of information, because it will decide if you will be able to install anything else than Windows 8 on that box.
On (some) HP laps there is a boot option to turn the secure booting off - so you only have to remember to hit F9 real fast every time you boot to get your grub started. From there you can then pick as usual.

If you forget it then Windows 8 will be booted every time...

After mentioning in my previous post that Fedora 18 would not install in this configuration, I was contacted by Adam Williamson.

He told me that the Fedora 18 Beta did not have the final UEFI/Secure configuration yet, which is not a surprise, and a short time later he pointed me to a newer F18 test release which did have the complete Secure Boot configuration, so that I could test it. I was quite pleased to see that it installs and boots with no problem.

Yeah I still hold him responsible for my confusion back then: Because of him I thought that Linux was all about free Whisky ... before I (years later) understood that it was all about free beer
