finally got around to installing ark linux (2008 dock-yard)on my testbed pc
install was fast and simple with the kde theme
there are a lot of nice apps including a full office suite in this distro
this distro is a good one for a newbie as well as a seasoned linux user and it is easy to use

You really need to provide links to these things, to include download ones (sorry I know I'm no longer moderator, but it doesn't make it any less true).

quick review:

What distro is Ark Linux based on?
None. Ark Linux was originally based off of Red Hat because our head developer used to work for Red Hat; however, Ark Linux developed into it's own thing and veered off entirely from Red Hat. We do not use Red Hat code at all anymore. (this is from their FAQ)

my test bed pc was a dell inspiron 1.6 gig processor, 512 meg of ram and 60 gig hdd
it ran pretty snappy on this machine so it will probably work on older machines
it does require a minimum of around 3 gig to install

it is an graphic install cd (sorry its not live). It installs very quickly and while you wait on install you can play a tetris based game
(part of the install program)
