http://haiku-os.org/ - I love this OS@

Haiku is a new open-source operating system that specifically targets personal computing. Inspired by the BeOS, Haiku is fast, simple to use, easy to learn and yet very powerful.

Have a friend involved in the project. Nice stuff there.

Since you like it it must be brilliant for sound and music I gather? I have never heard of it before but I am curious.

It's good for a lot of things.

Downloaded it today - think I'll hook up an old hdd and slap it on there, see how it does.

Be sure to read the Release Addendum before you install it. There's some nasties there.

Results anyone? This looks interesting. An open source OS not based on Linux or Unix. BeOS was developed for multimedia purposes but Palm gave up on it. Haiku is one of the projects continuing the code. So I am a bit curious. How was it - dedanna?
I can imagine some resolution issues since it only is capable of using the VESA driver.

I'm not "there" yet - will let you know when I am.

I'm still getting the Release Addendum figured out, dealing with a daughter from having a very nasty surgery - helping take care of her, all kinds of stuff going on here. Don't know if I'm coming or going these days, sorry. Will get to it as soon as I can.
