Did you take a check of the Gentoo tutorial to install?

Oh yes!!! You can't pull this one out of your back pocket. I am reading and reading and reading:) That is the good thing with this one I am actually learning something. I think I have learned what I can with Mandriva (there is always more to learn - but no source of information when you reach a certain level). Tried arch and fixed that. And finaly Gentoo. If you nail that one, you know something about Linux. Looks like I am gooing to succede with the virtual box install too:)

I think I now know what I want to install on my other drive... hhmmm... at least it's something to consider. If I'm going to do distros with source installations anyway, then I should consider this one at least.

Yeah. Just need to get feeling better so I can lift this thing and tear it down to see what's up with the dvd drive.

Edit: Wait, my son's coming down this evening, and he's a whiz at this stuff (I taught him :D) - maybe I could get him to help me with it.

Well, if I can feel just a tad better, well, even if I can't...

I have a 3-day weekend this week. Will be on furlough on Friday (the governor here has mandated due to state cutbacks that we each take a one-day unpaid furlough a month, it's fine, I'm cool with it), so I'll have time to give the Gentoo a try this weekend. Once I can get 'er going, I'll be able to help you out more.
