Oh, of course. Just haven't been around much due to a lack of an actual Linux distro being run.

We do Windows too. Even if just to make fun of Bill Gates. LOL.

Just came up from a Fedora 13 reinstallation, due to that grub issue (FU GRUB!).

I have to be in KDE for the time being, so DON'T MESS WITH ME AND DON'T SPAM THIS FORUM.

You should be very afraid. This has me in a very bad mood.

What! Are you being unfaithful to Arch yet again :?: Anyway stay away from grub2 it is not good for you.

It wasn't grub2 this time. See above links to the fedora forum.

Yes, I run two thanks. That way if one crashes, I got another.

Also, I like them both. It's not being unfaithful at all. I've found that the two actually pit off each other a lot.

Re: Fedora! Ur SELinuks b broken now!!!

Postby dedanna1029 » 01 Aug 2010, 23:34

Go on, piss me off, Fedora, but good. Came in to Fedora 13, did a mass 285 updates.

One of them was Firefox to 3.6.7. Okay, so, finish updates, load up Firefox, to find that it wasn't updated - the latest is 3.6.8. So, I download the tarball for 3.6.8, extract it, go to run it, and get:

Image

Yep, now I'm really ticked. I'll be damned if anything or anyone is going to stop me from running a program that I PUT THERE MYSELF TO RUN. Not to mention that then, it wouldn't log into bugzilla to report the bug... *rolls eyes*

To report this:

Code: Select all

Summary:

SELinux is preventing /home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/firefox-bin from loading
/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so which requires text relocation.

Detailed Description:

The firefox-bin application attempted to load
/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so which requires text relocation. This is
a potential security problem. Most libraries do not need this permission.
Libraries are sometimes coded incorrectly and request this permission. The
SELinux Memory Protection Tests
(http://people.redhat.com/drepper/selinux-mem.html) web page explains how to
remove this requirement. You can configure SELinux temporarily to allow
/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so to use relocation as a workaround, until
the library is fixed. Please file a bug report.

Allowing Access:

If you trust /home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so to run correctly, you can
change the file context to textrel_shlib_t. "chcon -t textrel_shlib_t
'/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so'" You must also change the default file
context files on the system in order to preserve them even on a full relabel.
"semanage fcontext -a -t textrel_shlib_t
'/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so'"

Fix Command:

chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '/home/dedanna/Extract/firefox/libxul.so'

They do that on purpose -I tell you. Fedora is the Ginniepig distro. If it works they brake it to test some more.
In this case it should be possible to turn off SE-Linux tho.....
Well it was in the old days. I cannot find any place to do it simple and quick now. Just dump it, everybody does
