Hacking, craking and planting viruses.

It is a common misconception that Linux users are hackers and crackers. In short Linux users are criminals!
Not much has been done to correct this. And some may even see their purposes served by this.
Some years ago in the process against DVD-John - he cracked the code to copy DVD's - the Norwegian state prosecution managed to make the argument that he was a Linux user and thus a criminal.
Now this poor female advocate was swiftly corrected by the knowledgeable people of the world, but she must have been convinced that this is the case. (Well either that or she likes making a fool of here self).
DVD-John won the case.
But the average Joe in many countries may also suffer from this massive misconception. And he does not make a distinction between hackers crackers and plain script kiddies who like planting viruses. They are all hackers!
So therefore I thought I should give my two cents regarding this. Since I suspect that this site will be regarded as rather Linux friendly.
Taking over other machines, spying or just planting viruses for fun (or the hell of it) is as low as you can sink. That is even lower than spamming. And yes it is criminal! I support everyone (That would be mostly Microsoft -You know those id..ts who call Linux cancer?) in fighting these criminals and I would be glad to contribute in stopping that criminal activity.
It is unproductive evil and destructive.
Calling Microsoft names is OK (well they do too: cancer communism etc) Windows is bloated inflexible and expensive. For some reason MS has an influence on math these days so Security people and Antivirus cost are not implemented in the pieces, making Windows look cheaper than Linux.

But attacking the poor users of that inferior system is plain wrong and often criminal. Hacking is in many cases just fine, but since Average Joe all over the world associates Hacking with Criminals (much to Microsoft's delight, I suspect). We should call it tweaking or something.

I have had the joy of being attacked by the conficker worm in a job setting. In a network containing some 12000 PC's that thing spread across the borders like fire. And it leaves the PC useless.
It toke me three hours to fix in my office (with Bart-Pe), other offices with less experience used days waiting for external expertise etc.
12000 people that could not work for three hours - you do the math - That is rather expensive!
So my gut feeling was to get hold of those pizza faced insecure script kiddies and give them a good spanking and no more ice cream for life! :T :berserk2
But the sad truth is: Those people do exist and those Viruses keep coming. That is a fact!
This is a fact to: That would never have happened if we had not used Windows ........

People even attempt to send viruses to me, and I got a little script I send back. LOL. From my Linux box. I don't do virus/spyware, except out of revenge against itself.

Yup. One of the great things about evil things, is you can use them to neutralize themselves. It's why evil never truly wins in anything.

oh well we know who we are
