I want one!

For now it's for developers only, and you'll need to flash your own OS.

Pine64 has announced that it is finally shipping the PinePhone, a smartphone that takes the rare step outside the Android/iOS duopoly and is designed to run mainline Linux distributions. The PinePhone starts shipping January 17 in the "Braveheart" developer edition.

This initial "Braveheart" batch of devices is meant for "developer and early adopter" users, according to the Pine64 Store.

It comes with a factory test image only.

Gosh... Loved the Cyanogen MOD phone OS and was easy to install.

Would not mind to have a barebones OS that does Text, Email, Calls and Browser. Also, to allow the phone to use thr Hot Spot. Right now I am using 2 phones. One as a phone and the other as a "Tablet". Seems to be working on that setup just fine.

Oh Yes! I want it :jackpot
I was worried that this would be an Ubuntu thing but there are several OS's available - including Manjaro :B

Manjaro is based on Alarm..which I use for Raspberry pi.

If I don't like it I can switch OS...yeah I like that :tux5:

Not that Android isn't good enough...they are just to fond of spying... or "enhancing your experience" as the tech companies call it these days...

In any case this looks way more promising than that Microsoft phone (that failed so miserably)..and it has to be... well since MS failed.

Most promising project I have seen in a long time and a giant step for freedom +1

Well not that easy to get hold of one...it is "out of stock". :(

It won't be for long, I'm sure.
