Unix timezone database nuked

All Unix based systems are depending on the timezone database. But some astrology troll - Astrolab - decided to sue the maintainer so he decided to stop the service without warning.
Now this does still work on my systems.
Why?

Because ICANN took over the database and are willing to risk being sued.

"But even if the lawsuit ultimately fails, it could take years and tens of thousands of dollars for Olson and Eggert to prevail. In the meantime, the internet needs a way to know what time it is in any one part of the world."

And that my friends is the root of all; money.

Throw a guy like that into Litigation.
All Lawyers make money, the Company and the Maintainer looses money in the process.
Whoever wins will go on as business as usual.

Would not be surprised MS is behind trying to destroy the UNIX ecosystem but doing Guerrilla Warfare :berserkf

I am not to worried.
IBM, Redhat and Google need that database so there is money on that side too.
