Re: New Parted Magic
I like gparted. It seems solid, has come to be able to see all of my somewhat complicated jbod on various mainboard controllers and add-in pci cards. For fun in these lazy days, I burned a Parted Magic 5.8 disk and took 'er for a spin!:
idk why, maybe trouble with my nvidia card, the Samsung monitor, whose edid has always been a pita for me, or something else, but, just after the load to ram process reports 'ejecting cd', the screen goes black, no VT's can be summoned, 'Caps Lock' doesn't toggle the keyboard status light but 'Magic Keys' will cause a reboot.
Anywho, there is a choice for 'alternate x server', xvesa, at boot and I am posting in chromium, using that.
It seems nice, I thing this is lxde. There are a variety of programs that I have only sampled but I like the partition browser, which quickly, automatically mounts then displays the partition contents. (I am not fond of how the various g* programs insist on double-click, however.) There is a disk health/smartmon program, GSmartControl, and it looks like that could be useful for extended offline tests of drives (over two hours so I'm not trying that, atm). The DHCP network is brought up automatically and everything seems pretty neat and stable,
afaics.
p.s. I don't know if it's chromium but the spoiler 'Show' tab displays only 'Show', never 'Hide', whether the spoiler is open or closed.

Re: New Parted Magic
Thank you for the Gparted review. The first pic was very impressive. Gparted is a must for every Win And Mac user. Kind of Ironic and utterly satisfying.
You are becoming a spoiler wizard -I tell you! So regarding:
Touche! - you caught me. In Chromium and Iron that thing refuses to communicate the Hide button. It will work fine in SeaMonkey,Opera +++
I dunno exactly what Iron/chromium does not take yet but I am looking into it. Sneaky little bug you found there
I the mean time for Iron and Chromeium:

You're welcome.
Looks like I didn't write clearly enough but I threw in gparted as a 'backstory', then the rest was moreso a review of the Parted Magic 5.8 iso recently released, topic of your thread...
Code: Select all
[root@localhost rolf]# parted
GNU Parted 2.2
Using /dev/sda
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
(parted)I think parted has different guis, such as gparted, which you can get on a livecd, which I have used, or Parted Magic. They are all useful and I think it's a good idea to keep track of how they develop.
Re: New Parted Magic
I always mix up Gparted and Parted Magic - as I did here
So the not clear enough writing was on my part

Re: New Parted Magic
Anyway this may be an explanation for the Chromium bug;
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue ... l?id=19480
Testing some settings to confirm.
Edit: Puh found out that the error also appears in Konqueror it must be a div handling thing.
So here is a choice:

Re: New Parted Magic
As requested I think. I have replaced "SPOILER" with "hide" Now you can help me turning all the "spoiler"s to "hide"
Edit:
Puh
I take it back. This Forum is so full of "spoilers" already so it would take days
I'll just change it back. It can be done but I have no way of altering already existing spoilers.
That goes for the tag and the button.
If you are referring to the Mandriva one (You probably are) I completely agree. To much stridsøks there

Re: New Parted Magic
Preferences here:
/me likes Gparted.
/me likes the spoiler button here, not the MDV way. It seems bulky somehow the way they do it.
/me uses Iron by default now. The only single time I don't is when I have to do an upload ('cause of the bug on uploading files in Iron). No sweat, I just boot Seamonkey or FF either one to do the upload right quick and I'm done and back out of them.
So, do it however, but there are my preferences.
