I have presented iftop before - and it is real easy and nice.

Now I have had a look at it's big brother iptraf-ng.

It comes with a lot of functions and is easy to use ..sit tight.... :-D

Checking out the filter function Entering the google.com IP and monitoring the trafic there.....
In the configuration section I turned on Reverse DNS lookup to see the names behind the IP's.

I think it is more configurable than Iftop (not sure) in iftop you simply press "h" and get a lot of toggle options. In iptraf-ng you have to configure and set filters.
..Then you have to remember to remove those filters to monitor everything again.
Example:
In iptraf-ng I have to set "Reverse DNS lookup" in the Configuration section - in iftop I simply toggle them with pressing "n".
Iptraf-ng does provide a lot of interesting info though and I have amused myself with running them side by side in Tmux.

Have a look at the live show and decide for yourself (It depends on your needs):

It does make sense to check were your traffic is going these days...
