How do I search pacman for it? I can't remember the name of the package it's needing here exactly, and I've forgotten how to search pacman. This is in Arch. Thanks.

It is in aur! You will need to install yaourt and do a

Code: Select all

yaourt nodoka
. That will show you all the nodoka related install possibilities.

Just follow this one:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Yaourt
And you are good to go.

Uggghh...

Code: Select all

# pacman -S gcc
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gcc-objc: requires gcc=4.5.0-2

Edit: Methinks I've been out of my arch box for a tad too long. Hang on --

Edit2: Nope, no change. :(

Do a pacman -Syu and then it should work; gcc 4.5.0-4 is in the core repo.
to query: pacman -Q gcc

Yeah, just did that and wish I'd hadn't - over a thousand packages to update... :\ Mostly to update KDE to 4.4.4-1.

Frikking KDE anyway. :p

Yeah well it will update what ever you have installed :D
To find orphans you can do a

Code: Select all

pacman -Qdt
that could clean things up a bit.
And to search for a package you probably meant

Code: Select all

pacman  -Ss nodoka

Which you wouldn't find because it is in AUR as mentioned above.

This is what happens when Arch is left alone, even for a short while.

It begs and starves for interaction.

Currently building Clementine Player from yaourt - will do Nodoka when done.

I cannot see from that how it begs for interaction. You might want to press enter and "Y" some times that is the Arch way - you are in control. Nothing wrong there. It will be better after the first update. I always use the net-install so everything is up to date after the installation.

I'm leaving this one here. It's the other one I'm going to have to split off and move. :\

What I was saying, is leave Arch alone for even a little while, and it has mega-updates screaming atcha. :)
At any rate, they're done, and Nodoka's installed, so this one's solved. :)

You could install pacupdate. that is a nice liltle update manager to autostart. And to optimize and sort the repos:

Installed, thanks.

Just one more question, what package is it I need to install for the question mark here?

Thanks.
