What are you listening to right now?

What do we like? Where do we get it? What are you listening to?

I'd rather be a free person who fears terrorists, than be a "safe" person who fears the government.

At various concerts at the end of the 60's, beginning of the 70's, I saw Elvin Bishop, Country Joe and the Fish, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Miles Davis, Eric Burton and War, Joan Baez at the really nice Frost Amphitheater on Stanford University Campus, near where I grew up in Sunnyvale.

I saw Taj Mahal open for Boz Scaggs at Pepperland in San Rafael and paid a $2 cover to see Muddy Waters at The Saloon, in San Francisco's North Beach. Rock and roll was quite a bit different, back then. I could ride the bus from Berkeley to the city, stand in line at Fillmore West or Winterland, and pay $2-$3 to see Grateful Dead or 3 name bands, like Jefferson Starship, Tower of Power,.... memories are fuzzy...Image

Yep, those truly were the days. :) I could bus Pasadena-->L.A. (or, pretty much wherever I wanted to go) and back. :) Probably saw Elvin Bishop about the time you did - I'm thinking something like '71 maybe? Or '73-'74? Something like that. He totally tore the place down, ripped it a new one. :D

Remember some days at the Fillmore East, too. :) The Ice House,,, man, those were the days.

Edit, noticed Its A Beautiful Day on their rolf... great stuff there. :)

Yes, Quicksilver was one of those at Winterland I was trying to recall and "White Bird" was one of my favorites. It got played a lot in the dorm at Cal. :)

We really need an icon like that in our set here LOL. Something similar anyway.

There is someone (possibly maybe) lurking here who would know what this one's all about.

MUST-HEAR.

I so want to learn to play this on the piano. Been playing the hell out of it lately.

Thank you, Joste. You're precious. :)

Peeling the skin back from my eyes, I felt surprised
that the time on the clock was the time I usually retired
to the place where I cleared my head of you;
but just for today, i think I'll lie here and dream of you.

I've got you under my skin where the rain can't get in,
but if the sweat pours out, just shout I'll try to swim and pull you out.

A howling wind blows the litter as the rain flows,
As street lamps pour orange coloured shapes through your window,
a broken soul stares from a pair of watering eyes,
uncertain emotions force an uncertain smile...

I've got you under my skin where the rain can't get in,
but if the sweat pours out, just shout I'll try to swim and pull you out.

Makes one feel positively manic on the worst of days... :)

Jools Holland on piano. :)
